Party Invitation Ideas

party invitation ideasThe party invitation is the first thing anyone sees about your party, so it should definitely showcase the party's theme and convey not just date, time, location, and RSVP info, but what kind of party it is, who it's for, and any other pertinent information (like whether you should bring a dish to share, whether it's a surprise party, whether to wear costumes, etc).

Even if you don't want to pay for preprinted invitations, you can get some great invitations by checking out websites like Invite.com. Just search on the theme or even a word having to do with your theme (like "beach" for a tropical party...) and check out all the different stuff that comes up.

If your party is big and/or formal (like a wedding), you'll want to order printed invitations. If it's less formal, fill-in-the-blank invitations or making them yourself is fine.

If you make them yourself, you can be very creative. The invitations don't even have to be in card form. You can create a party invitation flyer, letter, card, or really, whatever you want. I've heard of little scrolls, messages in bottles, puzzle invitations, and even invitations printed on balloons that the recipients have to blow up to read. I do suggest that there be an actual party invitation sent and that the invitations are not done by phone. I say this because it's nice for the guests to have something tangible they can hang on their fridge or whatever to remind them of the event. You can also send by email, but I personally think it's more "partyish" to send a real invitation.

Be sure to check out the party invitation ideas on each theme party page for more ideas.
