Dance Party - Dance Til You Drop
The dance party is especially popular with the girls. I know I spent a lot of my 20s in dance clubs!
You can use your basement and rent a party room and hire a band or DJ, or just go to a popular night club, depending on how private you want the party to be, and how big your budget is. (Note, too, that if you have it at a club, people under 18 or 21 might not be able to come.)
The dance party requires hip invitations. They might be tailored to the kind of music that will be played - pop, dance, industrial, etc. or be in the shape of an instrument, like a drum or guitar. Get invitations (or ideas) at eInvite or FineStationery.
If you rent a party room (or hold it in your basement), make sure you have disco balls, strobe lights, and black lights. A dance party loves anything that flashes. I wouldn't do anything that burns (like candles) because if people are dancing, they can be knocked over, but you can use dim lighting and glow-in-the-dark decorations. At a club, you'll have flashing lights! Get some specific ideas on the Decoration Ideas page, and get everything you need at discount prices at this excellent party supply resource.
If you eat at all, it's most likely snacks. The the dance party, set up a drinks area with a bucket of ice and your selection of drinks. Set up other areas with the food, which will generally be finger food - finger sandwiches, chips, pigs in a blanket, mini-quiches, veggies and dip, etc. I have a friend who makes an awesome Mexican dip and brings tortilla chips. It's her signature party dish and she always leaves with an empty dish! You can also do crock pot stuff - meatballs are very popular. The birthday cake can be decorated like a rock star or with any cool, hip design. Get great recipes and food ideas here and get some excellent cake decorating ideas here.
of course! You can do line dances or a Train or whatever! Just dance till
you drop! If you're having this kind of party at home, get
